COALGATE SLOW PITCH TEAM STATE TOURNAMENT
The high school softball team has qualified for the slow pitch state tournament. Games will be played on Wednesday, May 3rd starting at 11:30 at the Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
We are providing a fan bus for Wednesday's games to transport high school and middle school students. If students would like to attend, they need to have the permission slip signed and returned to the high school or middle school office by 8:00 AM on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. Tickets can only be purchased online on the Go Fan app. Students will need to show the purchased ticket before they board the bus.
Students must be eligible to go to the game.
They can pick up the letter and permission slip at the front office.
The team will be leaving at 4:30 from the high school, so plan to be downtown for a send-off!

ACADEMIC TEAM UPDATE
This weekend the Coalgate Academic Team placed 21/77 small school teams and 10/46 very small schools at the 2023 Small School National Championship Tournament in Chicago. NAQT( National Academic Quiz Tournaments) classifies a “small school” as a high school with 500 or fewer students across its top three grades, up to 12. “Very small schools” have 300 or lower students enrolled.
In addition, Rachel Prince was ranked in individual stats 18th out of 421 students, placing her in the top 5%!!

Our Academic Team played their first game at 8:30. They won!! It is double elimination so they are off to an excellent start. Well done!

Our Academic Team has made it to the playoffs. They will play for the championship tomorrow. According to Mrs. McNutt, they are also the most hydrated team in Chicago.

The Internet has become an integral part of our lives. We have access to information from around the world. However, along with the positive aspects of being online, we will encounter many dangers from malware, viruses, malicious sites, and obscene sites. Coalgate Public Schools has a webpage devoted to keeping staff, parents, and students up-to-date on the dangers of being online and how to avoid those dangers. The address for the Online Safety Site is https://coalgateschools.onlinesafetyhub.io We strongly suggest that all concerned visit this site regularly to stay updated on sites, games, chat rooms, etc.
As an example, Coalgate Public School’s online filtering program has shown a rise in hits on Anime sites. Anime is hand-drawn or computer-generated images that originated in Japan. When Anime first appeared, the drawings and stories were appropriate for young children. However, we have noticed that many of these sites have an adult section buried in the pages. These adult drawings are easily accessible to any person who navigates these sites. Therefore, Coalgate Public Schools has blocked many of these sites. However, new ones continue to appear. Coalgate Public Schools strongly suggests parents/guardians monitor online usage with special attention to these Anime sites.
